UFC 156 Breakdown: Jose Aldo vs. Frankie EdgarAuthor : Brad Taschuk

UFC 156 features one of the best main events in recent organizational history, as two of the top fighters in the sport are going to square off for the Featherweight title. Jose Aldo has occupied a spot near the top of the sport since he dispatched Mike Brown to capture the WEC’s 145lb title back in November 2009. Edgar meanwhile solidified his standing as one of the best with his second victory over BJ Penn in August 2010, and has remained there through a string of close bouts ever since.

FightLockdown Forecast - UFC 149: Faber vs. BaraoAuthor : Brad Taschuk

Saturday night from Calgary, Alberta, the most snake-bitten card since UFC 147 goes off. Originally the MMA crazy city was to be treated to the likes of Mauricio Rua, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Thiago Alves and Yoshihiro Akiyama (among others) to cater to their hardcore tendencies. Now, unfortunately, they get Chris Clements and Matt Riddle on the main card. Despite the obvious disappointment in losing so many notable fighters, there are still some points of interest on this card. So rather than looking back and bemoaning our bad luck, let's look ahead to what we've got left.

In Their Prime… Brock Lesnar vs. Mark KerrAuthor : Jack Barrington

I love the thought of this fight. From the day Brock Lesnar entered mixed-martial arts with a bang, destroying Min-Soo Kim in just 69 seconds, to the moment he went out with a whimper, being methodically picked apart, embarrassed and dispatched inside a round by Alistair Overeem, a prime-versus-prime fight between him and Mark Kerr was a (not so quiet) fantasy of mine. Brock may have retired from the sport following that loss last year, but for me, nothing has changed. My obsession lives on. The prospect of Lesnar vs. Kerr will always fascinate me, and I’ve asked questions about it before. Now, with the benefit of hindsight over both of their careers, it’s one I want to ask again: Lesnar vs. Kerr, in their prime, who wins?

Where Do They Go From Here? - UFC on FX 3Author : Joshua Taylor

So to be honest I wasnt even going to do a write-up for this card as I was only personally interested in like three fights on this entire card. After some of the performances on the main card this evening though I had to take a look forward for those eight men. While I still have little interest in the undercard fighters for these are my thoughts on where the main card fighters should go from here. Take a look to see if you agree and be sure to post your opinions!

I havent run the numbers but I think that may have been the fastest main card in the history of the UFC. The great finishes werent just limited to the main card though as there were some great fights all the way down the card. Some big upsets, some fantastic fights, and excellent finishes. Definitely some big fights to be made coming out of this evening. Keep reading to see what fights I believe should be made for each fighter coming out of tonight and see if you agree.

The UFC did a great job with this card overall. There weren't a ton of big names, nor a ton of matches that have impact at the top of divisions but there were a lot of stylistically fun fights and the Korean Zombie is guaranteed excitement. Despite not having huge names there are some really fun fights that can and should be made coming out of tonight. See if you agree with my picks or if you have thoughts of your own.

Does Dana White wish he had a Floyd Mayweather Jr.?Author : Jack Barrington

There were two big events in the world of combat sports last weekend. In East Rutherford, New Jersey, Nate Diaz and Jim Miller fronted the third UFC on Fox event, while in Las Vegas, Nevada, we saw Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Miguel Cotto headline what could be the best selling boxing pay-per-view of the year. Both cards delivered. Both main events gave us impressive performances and both audiences went home happy. In terms of star power, though, there was only ever going to be one winner. In Floyd Mayweather Jr., boxing has a star that MMA (and the UFC specifically) can only hope to ever equal.

Once again we look forward to five must-see matches for the month. Generally when I am preparing these articles I pull up the schedule for all the cards in the month and make note of each fight I am very interested in. Usually I have to narrow down to five fights from a list of 8-10 but this month I made note of 20 fights! To say we have an action packed month ahead would definitely be an understatement. There are titles on the line, #1 contenders to be made, more Heavyweight MMA then we have seen in a long time, and some stylisticly awesome fights scheduled. Even with all the shuffle-ups of UFC 146 we still have a very solid and intriguing card even if we did lose out on the most anticipated fight in the HW division. Here are the five fights I am most looking forward to. Keep reading to see if you agree or if your list is different.
