For anyone who was had the pleasure of watching Featherweight (145lbs) and Bantamweight (135lbs) fighters such as Urijah Faber, Miguel Torres, Jose Aldo, Mike Brown, Wagnney Fabiano, or Brian Bowles compete, you know how action packed and relentless these fighters and divisions can be. The WEC, which houses the majority of the top ten fighters in each of those weight classes, has been putting out stellar shows for some time now and has quietly built up extremely impressive rosters.

Finishing the fight - working the body

How many times in an MMA fight have we seen one fighter rock another with a hard punch or kick and then not capitalize and finish the fight? For me it happens far more often than it should.  Most people will point to the reason for the rocked fighter not getting finished is a quick recovery time on his part, but in most cases I disagree.

Where have the kicks gone Chuck?

Chuck Liddell is probably the most recognizable name in all of MMA.  Chuck made a name for himself by being a dangerous kick boxer with some of the best take-down defense in the world.  However, in Chuck’s most recent fights he has appeared to be just a counter puncher with good take down defense.  Could kicks bring him back to his winning ways?

Canada's UFC Welterweight Champion Shoots Commercial for Gatorade


In 1993, the sport we know today as Mixed Martial Arts was not recognized as an athletic affair by many people, specifically due to the absence of a sanctioning body and more importantly rules. As a result of these major criticisms, MMA received nothing but negative mainstream media attention, which deterred potential sponsors for getting involved with the violent spectacle’s combatant—causing many to enlist in full and part-time jobs, just to scrape by financially.

Where have all the pioneers gone?

Over the past 15 years, MMA has made a huge transition from an unregulated spectacle, to one of the fastest growing sports in the world today. Along the way we have seen MMA fighters progress from being extremely one dimensional to being masters in all aspects of combat.
