FLD's Sloppy Slugfest of the Week #1: Hunt vs. Kohsaka

This is a new feature on FLD, brought to you by the resident... guy who brings you fights, Brad Taschuk.

The SSotW will feature a fight that is contested primarily on the feet, and while they may not be examples of technical brilliance they will certainly be entertaining spectacles at the very least.  With the aid of some of our great forum members, I hope to make this a weekly event, much like my Friday Fight Bodega.  Credit goes to vikingpride for the unique "Fryamma" scoring system used for the SSotW.

The SSotW has been running on the forums for 3 weeks now, so just this once, you'll be treated to 3 separate slugfests in order to introduce you, so check after the jump for what 3 fights made the cut.
Mark Hunt vs Tsuyoshi Kohsaka
PRIDE OWGP - Round 1

First, I have to point out that this is slightly different than what I posted originally on the forum.  So, I went back to re-watch this awesome tournament once again, and I forgot how great this fight was.  TK was on the tail end of his career, and Hunt was a legitimate heavyweight contender at the time.  The first round of this battle is epic sloppy slugfestery. The second is a little more one-sided, but features one of the more hilarious sequences in MMA, when TK just repeatedly takes long distance shots on Mark Huntoooo.

Anyways, this fight is pure fun, and also, it was TK's last fight, so I ask you to reflect on him and his great career.  Now on to our second fight:

Alright, in the second edition of this series, we're going back to the same card, but I found a fight for you guys which is both sloppier and sluggier than Hunt/Kohsaka.

Behold, one of the best chins in MMA against one of the worst:

James Thompson vs Kazuyuki Fujita
PRIDE OWGP - Round 1

This fight is just insane, and garners a whopping 4 out of 5 Frye/Takayama's. One of the greatest moments in MMA history also takes place in this fight, when James Thompson has his blood splattered on the camera lens.  Moving on quickly:

This week we're taking it back. Waaaaay back. Back into time.

This could be the first ever brawl in the history of MMA... and man was it sloppy. I'm not sure whether this fight fits into the category of being wildly entertaining, or more painful than passing a kidney stone. I prefer to look on the bright side of things, so I'll consider it a pioneering, wildly entertaining display of technical brillian... okay, I won't go that far.

Either way, these guys are true superstars, with an epic combined record of 6-17... so brace yourself for:

Zane Frazier vs. Kevin Rosier
UFC 1

This fight is truly a debacle, and hardly looks like MMA by today's standards. Still that doesn't stop it from essentially being a bar fight. Also, Kevin Rosier shows why he was one of the founding members of Chute Boxe with those devastating stomps to finish things off.

So in the future the write ups will be a little bit longer and more dramatic, but in the interest of being expedient with this update, I chose to keep things brief.  Expect many more slugfests in the coming weeks, which will only get more and more ridiculous.  If you head to the 'General MMA' section of our forum you can find the thread to discuss the Rosier/Frazier fight.  Next week's fight has not been decided upon yet, so if you can think of a slugfest which you want to see featured, shoot me a PM on the forum and I'll see what I can do for you.
