Chuck Liddell is probably the most recognizable name in all of MMA. Chuck made a name for himself by being a dangerous kick boxer with some of the best take-down defense in the world. However, in Chuck’s most recent fights he has appeared to be just a counter puncher with good take down defense. Could kicks bring him back to his winning ways?
Standup in MMA is about having well-rounded skills. Chuck used to use his kicks mixed in with with his perfectly time counter striking to defeat his opponents. I personally think Chuck got too hung up on being known as the guy with one punch knockout power. This has worked against him as he has become too predictable, as opponents now know they just have to worry about his hands. He could use his kicks effectively while opponents are still on the outside, he would become a dangerous contender from all distances.

Chuck has also shown amazing takedown defense throughout his entire career. With his ability to stuff most shots, and bouncing right back after a take-down only adds to why I think he should be throwing kicks. Many fighters hold back on kicks because they are afraid of being taken down, but with Liddell’s resume and ability to get back up with ease, there is no reason for him not to be using his kicks.
By re-integrating kicking back into his arsenal, he can show Shogun a more diverse striking skill-set, which will help him achieve victory.
