This just in, looks like I'll finally fight this year after all. I'll be fighting at 62kg again which is good, I'll be getting matched up at the weekend but I'm pretty sure it's going to be this BJJ blue belt that I was meant to fight earlier this year. The show will be at the Magnum Center so it'll probably be about 1000 people there which is cool. I'm looking forward to doing my thing again, I'm feeling good and hopefully I can KO someone else with a knee to the liver!

Good Luck Man. Don't experiment with the guy, go in and do your job (ala Shogun).

Defo, I know by the fact that he's a blue belt that he's a committed guy who puts in the hours but hopefully once I punch him in the face a couple of times that stuff flies out the window. I actually think that the thing I've improved on the most since the last time I fought was my rasslin' I don't know what happened but one day things just seemed to be happening. Right now I feel like I can pepper him up while he spends energy trying to take me down and then I can go for the finish.

Also MKZ I know where my bread is buttered you wont see me attempting a flying arm bar in this fight

I just got a call to get paired up with a boxer in an MMA fight, I've been told his kicks are terrible and his ground skills are limited but his boxing is solid. He's heavier than me though at 65kg while I'm at 62 but I'd happily meet him half way since there's still a month 'till the event. If we agree to a weight I'll happily fight him because my coach tells me this is a good fight for me as he has seen him fight before. I trust my coach and I believe that I have a lot more tools to finish this fight than he does.

Good luck dude, use some of your improved 'rasslin to put him on his ass and take it from there

I'm a Kung Fu fighter, but if I have to go Chael Sonnen on someones ass, then I will.

take him down, hold position, if he gets up, take him down again....

do that for every second of every round....guaranteed win

Kung Fu huh? Has that transitioned well for you? Also going Chael Sonnen is a pretty good plan haha.

There's a difference between Takin someone down and Sonnening someone. You got to talk a lot of awesome trash to Sonnen him.

Without the talk, your just Guida'ing him.

No, to Guida someone you must have hair reaching at least half way down your back. If you're not an awesome trash talker or have long hair you bacily...Jon Fishing someone :sonic:

Sonnen at least does work. Guida just hugs whomever like a tree. His neanderthal looks just make him seem like he is actually fighting.

Just make sure to set-up your kicks if you decide to use them. Personally, I'd probably play the ground or clinch game with a solid boxer.. are you competing in a ring or cage?

I thought to go Chael Sonnen on someone's ass you had to take them down and then elbow them in the legs and hammer fist their ribs.

Also the fight will be in a ring Miles.

I think I'd rather get knocked out than win like that, just holding someone down and controlling them.

Takedowns are the way to go, but do something with them at least.

Especially considering it's in a ring I wouldn't play the standup game for too long, although I have no idea what his boxing is actually like.

I agree Jack that would be pretty lame, just to confirm I'm fighting this guy at 64kg and that's it all set up. I hear he's a very strong from one of my training partners who has rolled with him, said he pulled him in tight and didn't let go and it was very hard to get a sub on him. This comes from an experienced grappler, so on the ground I'll probably need to soften him up a bit and go for a choke.

The plan that Rampage gave Bisping for Silva should work for you.

"You wanna win ? Knock his ass out !"

if he is a good boxer mate , i would look to clinch and stay tight and press for the takedown and stay away from the corners.

im sure you will whoop some ass FLD style , i demnad another stoppage via vicious knee bro:)

Just thought I'd remind everyone that my fight is tomorrow. I'll let everyone know how it went on Saturday, but the video probably wont be up until Monday/Tuesday. My weight right now is 64/5kg so I've put on some weight and my opponent is apparently 63kg. So I don't know what's going on there, to be honest I don't really care what's going on with him, if he weighs in lighter than me, great! If not, whatever, he was meant to be heavier than me anyway. Anyway, feel free to leave me some motivational words, I intend to kick some ass and win anyway but it would still be nice.
