The new Vyper Fight League mixed martial arts and Vyper Productions announce the addition of former WWE standout John Bradshaw Layfield and Layfield Energy Company.

JBL retired from professional wrestling/sports entertainment after his WrestleMania 25 match against Rey Mysterio Jr. on Sunday, April 5 in Houston. He will join the VFL broadcast team as one of its hosts.

Layfield is a former WWE champ, the longest reigning in WWE SmackDown history; a former broadcaster on WWE SmackDown; regularly appears on Fox News Channel's The Cost of Freedom; is a best-selling author; and is the president and owner of Layfield Energy Company.

Layfield joins the VFL at its inaugural event, Enter the Vypers Pit, on Friday, April 24 at 4400 Shepherdsville Rd., Louisville.

This surprises me just for the fact that I thought he would go back and commentate on Smackdown after he retired. I hope he isn't as bad as Goldberg.

JBL is actually a pretty funny guy, but that's his character. I wonder how he'll do outside of the E.

He was a useless colour commentator for a match with a pore-ordained structure. I can't see him doing well here.

I would be lying if I said I wasnt extremely skeptical of this. Goldberg left a LOT to be desired. I have never actually heard this guy talk though so maybe he will suprise
