A lightweight contest between David Baron and Rob Emerson appears set for UFC 101 on Aug. 8 in Philadelphia. The Wachovia Center is expected to host the event, although it has yet to be confirmed by the UFC.

MMAWeekly.com learned of the match-up Friday evening from sources close to negotiations.

Emerson last appeared at UFC Fight Night 17, where he lost by submission to Kurt Pellegrino. Prior to that, the Huntington Beach resident knocked Manny Gamburyan out in 12 seconds at UFC 87.

Since emerging from the fifth season of "The Ultimate Fighter," Emerson is 2-1 in UFC competition with one no contest. He carries an overall record of 8-7 as a professional.

Baron made his promotional debut at UFC 89, where he endured a submission loss to IFL veteran Jim Miller in the final round of their meeting. The loss was a setback for Baron, who arrived on wave of hype after defeating Hayato Sakurai in Shooto last May. A submission specialist, Baron is 16-3 in professional competition.

Good fight I think I'll take Baron the guy is actually pretty skilled Jim just made him look like garbage because he's a bigger, stronger, better grappler.

I like Baron in this fight but if Rob manages to keep this standing it is his for the winning.

At least with the new forum we dont have to do the whole "Rob is actually good joke". Baron should get this to the ground and take this fight

The problem was that he was supposed to be awful when the joke started and he really wasn't. He was jsut you average MMArtist. Ok in some areas and not so ok in others.

I think the problem was it went on WAY to long. It was funny for a bit because it really confused the new guys joining the forum but then some members just kept going and going with it.

In some cases it even ruined what could've been good discussion threads because people commented like he was god and wouldnt seriously reply to questions posed.

Rob isn't that good of a wrestler that he'll be able to keep this one standing because Baron is a lot bigger than him. Baron should be able to take a decision though, because Rob is really hard to finish. Wouldn't be shocked if there was a sub though.
