My work capacity is through the floor. I weigh about 166lbs, most of the muscle I lost seems to have been the ones I squat with, since I did 95kg on sunday and a bunch of triples with 80kg and could barely walk all week.
It's good to see you lifting again. Once muscle memory kicks in, the muscles you thought you lost will come back.
Thanks, I definitely feel a lot better when I spend my time lifting and eating right rather than getting so drunk I end up in fistfights and falling down staircases.

One of the negatives about getting so skinny is the unsolicited advice people seem to feel obliged to give me.
Do you do the db rows one hand? I find I get a better stretch when I do it in a 70 degree angle.

Quite a desparity there between the DL & Squat. I can't believe you retained that much deadlift strength but hardly still possess much squatting strength. That's insane.

What does that mean?
So you weigh 75kg and bench 100kg?
That's pretty fucking insane. I'm tempted to say "pics or GTFO!" but I guess you must be a long time gym junkie.
I'm 90kg and benched 50kg the other day. Albeit only started light training about 2 months ago. Your numbers seem amazing.
I know a guy who does 50kg dumbell bench press and he's a huge mofo. Muscles on muscle and much more than 75kg.
I guess 50kg dumbell bench press is harder than 100kg bench?

Yeah, I think losing weight in general tends to hurt your bench and squat much more than deadlift. Not too sure why.

Thanks but remember that's working up to a heavy single rep. But yeah I have been lifting a while and that bench is 30lbs+ less than my best. It will seem less amazing to you in 6 months, believe me. Your numbers will shoot up due to noob gains.

Yeah there is no way in hell I would be able to flat bench 50s. If I do DB work I'm down in the 30kg range for about 8 reps.
Did some light overhead work today, press up to 65kg, some jerks and pushups. Squats tomorrow.

Well it looks like he is starving himself, soo...
I have brain fog from not getitng enough glucose.
I posted that early for some reason. My recovery has been better than expected considering I am eating much less than I used to.
Pullups are weird, they just seem to follow their own beat. I go weeks without doing any and bust out a bunch, other times I can barely do ten even though I have been training them consistently. It's weird.
I have brain fog from not getitng enough glucose.
lol I know what you mean. I was taking this fat burner kit not too long ago and I'd get lethargic after taking it. I talked to the chemist that formulated it, and it turns out I have to have carbs with it lol.
I also start feeling like getting teh sexy really isn't worth it everytime I pass a bakery window or a bar, but that passes hah.

Why do you guys suck at bench so much?
Long, skinny arms and lack of frequency.
Why do you guys suck at bench so much?
lmao, a strong bench shouldn't be the primary barometer of strength, I prefer bent over barbell rows, squats, deadlifts or power cleans.:)
Also, if anything my bench is disproportionately high. 100kg bench and 105kg squat = Fail

Odd. I squatted this morning and barely hit 85kg, albeit with a wide stance/high bar combo I had never used before. Everytime I squatted in the morning recently it has been a huge disaster, my hips are way too tight.
1.5 x BW squat next week hopefully. Or maybe I will have another like 5 shit sessions before my next good one like last time lol.
Edit: Settled on low bar narrow stance, I'm stronger with it and can judge depth easier. Not sure if it is lack of glute strength, hamstrings, flexibility w/e. Don't care. Wide stance squatting is gay.
Think Green
04-14-2011, 03:50 PM
Low bar, narrow stance? Why would you do that? I've only heard of low bar and a wide stance, or high bar and a narrow stance. You just like to be difficult, don't ya?
Dan Harrison for a good example of huge numbers with a pretty narrow stance low bar. Most of the great 80's squatters used low bar and medium stances, although mine is narrower than theirs. Just feels better at the moment.
I can't high bar for shit, despite being quad dominant. Can't keep the bar back enough and over heels.

Something that'll take some effort but is exceedable for TN and I, or even you, if you want to get involved WUKKA.

And 115kg is 253 lbs.
CG benched 85kg x 6 yesterday, pressed 75kg x 1.

That place is great to troll though.
Not much to say as far as training goes, pressed 75kg at 75kg bw today. Bench is resolutely stuck at 110kg, won't go up unless I start gaining weight I think.
Squat sucks, hurt my upper back badly a few weeks back repping out 85kg on front squats. Doesn't affect my deadlift, but I will only be light squatting for the forseeable future. Can't do powercleans, front squats, jerks etc.
I'm about to embark on a two month deadlift training cycle, after which I will pull 180kg plus at under 80kg BW. Wish me luck.
Also, shit is getting real with Wilkersons bench press. In b4 675 raw with a legit pause.

Oh yeah, I'm also trying to get to a competitive 5k time. Running is boring as shit, but I'm good at it.
Squats
100kg x 2, 1 x 14 or so.
Rack pull
up to 180kg.
Felt pretty easy. Kept some in the tank since I am probably deadlifting monday. Lowest pin is just below knee, gonna stand on plates and see if I can hit it a bit lower next week.

So have you actually been lifting? And just not logging?
A little, just getting back into the swing of things. Hurting my back really screwed me over, but I'd say I can hit the 180kg deadlift in two months if all goes according to plan.
I'd like to get my squat over 300lbs too in that timeframe, but my quads have disappeared so that might be less likely.

Hmm, I might try working some rack pulls into my plan on deadlifts day. Not an exercise I've done.
I think it helps the deadlift, but only when done at or below the knee with good form. Louie Simmons suggests not going above 10% over your true deadlift max IIRC.
Higher ones might be useful for developing mutant traps, but not much else.

Hmmm, I'll set bar for knee height then, and get to crackin.
Good advice, as my traps are already quite large, which when combined with my smaller delts makes them look huge. heh.
Deloaded for a week doing light squats and shrugs and other bullshit. Messed around with reverse grip bench and did 65kg x 10 and 80kg x 1 today. Lost 85kg and had to do a painful ass roll of shame(being skinny makes these a lot worse apparently). Fun, might incorporate these a little more, felt good on the shoulders, particularly at the bottom.
Going for 170kg Dead from the floor tomorrow brahs. About 2.3 x BW

Fuck, barely hit 160 after finally making it to the gym today. Had no more than 165 in me. Chalking it up to lack of sleep. Will hopefully get it next week, if not it is a serious wrench in the wheels of my plan.
Edit: Barely got it is an overstatement, moved fast enough and my form was clean, just felt heavy as fuuuuu.

When I was a complete cardio machine who used to do long distance running I was 6' and 150. So I can easily see how you're the size and weight you are. Of course for my all my strength was in my legs. It's easy as hell to get the Brad Pitt fight club physique that way.

Less/no alcohol -> leads to better energy and less destruction of your testosterone -> leads to more productive working out and gains -> leads to a better night sleep -> leads to you bragging about how beastly you're getting.
Alcohol is poison to your testosterone. Take a couple of weeks off of it, and see how better you feel and notice when you actually start gaining again.
My problem is I have done that and made no gains whatsoever numerous times.
I got stronger after nearly three weeks of not training at all(and I hadn't been training properly even before that) and drinking my face off, whereas I have lifted for months straight and managed not to hit any PRs. I give up any pretense of understanding how my body works,

A lot of things factor into your training and consistency is one of the key elements to improvements. I've been lifting hard on the regular basis, eating lots, resting plenty, and have gotten stronger on every lift and have continually added size. With that said, if you've been doing of all that, then it's the details that matter. I hardly ever drink, and whenever I party long nights or do something strenuous, I eat plenty and rest a lot to make up for it.
The last part of the semester was hell for me as I was barely able to find time for sleep, yet I made sure I ate a lot and still hit the gym whenever I could. Don't forget, that your state of mind can also change everything. If you want to continually become stronger, then you must believe that you will set a new PR everyday you step in the gym. I really like and agree with this quote from John Broz - "The body is amazing when you push it. You never know what you are capable of doing on any given day. The way you feel is a lie."

I don't recall you ever being consistent with a program for months at a time. If you were, you would make gains. Maybe your 1rm wouldn't go up 40 lbs, but that's because you don't get n00b gains anymore.

I'm still lifting but focusing on a lot of gay postural work and getting really lean. Haven't got any weaker though. I succesfully solved my problem my lordosis, partially due to the fact I don't have to sit on my ass all the time anymore, but I still have minor kyphosis to deal with.
Will update if I magically hit any PRs.
Benched 237lbs at 165lbs today. Could have probably grinded a second rep, but the guy spotting me would have bro-spotted it away from me if I tried. He was also wearing shorts, which was unpleasant, since as a small guy he had to stand on the rack and dangle his junk over my eyes in order to help unrack.
Been doing a lot of rear delt work, pec stretching and shoulder dislocations, appears to be paying off.
lol I hate it when I'm trying to be intense and buddy dangles his dingle and his musky balls overwhelms me. Good to see you're still training.

5x5 on squats, and adding 2.5kg to sets of ten on bench. Last of each was 100kg on squats and 82.5kg x 10 close grip.
More focused on losing weight and rehabbing shoulder injury. If I can get up to 90kg x 10 on bench and a 140kg squat at this weight I'd be happy though.
I miss lifting at home, hate having to lift listening to remixes of Adele and the crowd that frequent my gym. I had to wait twenty minutes for the bench today as two guys supersetted spotted singles(literally, bro spotting) with 60kg and db chest flies.

What a boring update
Training properly is boring, it involves a lot of sub-maximal work.
I'll squat or deadlift tomorrow just for you.

Now that's more like it
I squatted up to 110kg the last day, then did rows, chins and rear delts. I fail life.
Bench
warmup
90kg x 4
95kg x 4
95kg x 3 x 2
95kg x 2
92.5kg x 3
70kg x 20
Something like that. Then did shoulder stuff. 70kg x 20 may be a pr.
My bench has been failing recently, if i can't hit 105kg x 2-3 this weekend I will have to reevaluate my training.
Bench
102.5kg x 2
87.5kg x 8
Then did dips, db press and some gay shoulder press machine.
Bench
up to
100kg x 1
90kg x 8
90kg x 3 x 3 (minute and a half rest periods)
Then did close grip on smith, strict press, dips, tricep extensions and messed around with dumbbell overhead stuff.
Thoughts: Need to choose a form and stick to it, Decided I was JM blakely today and tried to bench exactly like him.
I think I stalled by working too close to my max for too long without a deload. Doing a short hypertrophy phase before working some more serious doubles, triples and singles. Some huge motherfucker was doing ez bar bench with 105kg today for sets of 12, and I want to gain some weight(I weigh 176lbs at 6 foot for fuck sake).
Bench is still my main focus. 85kg AMRAP next.

Ya man, you're skinny. You been skipping out on your potatoes?
lol typo. 186lbs. If I was still 176 I would literally have gained no weight in the last 3 months.
I eat my potatoes deep fried in butter with corned beef and onion, topped with a fried egg and grated cheese. Come at me bro
Bench
90kg x 9
110kg off a 2 1/2 board
95kg x 5
lots of other stuff. Can't seem to nail 90kg x 10.

Nice benching dude. I'm gonna pass you up soon though
Not unless you actually eat something one of these days.
Bench
up to
105kg x 2
95kg x 5, fail sixth.
Strict press
75kg x 1
65kg x 6
Close grip bench
up to
85kg x 5
Unhappy with bench, but pressing was solid. Going for 95kg AMRAP next week, hoping for six or seven.
Oh yeah, this was yesterday. Deadlifted up to 125kg x 10 today.

Nice press man. And you're right I do eat like a pansy. I have been getting a gram of protein per lb of bw though and it's making me look jakt
Saturday
Bench
105kg x 1 x 3
95kg x 6
90kg x 3 x a bunch
up to
100kg x 1 paused
Then did a drop set and some other gay stuff. Happy with 95kg x 6, I think it's a PR.
Today I deadlifted, did up to 135kg x4, then 5, then did some curls.
Bench
105kg x 1
90kg x 10, fail 11th.
Then did DB rows, shoulder press and a set of pullups.
That was a goal for a while, 100kg x 5 and 105kg x 3 next goals.

Why are you so good at high rep bench ? And are you still using the 40 lb dumbells for rows ?
I don't think 200 x 10 is that great with a 250lb max. I used 66lb dbs for a few sets of ten. I do not have dat dere back strength.
Im getting fatter easier than I thought and gaining strength less easy than I thought I would.
