New to the Lockdown

what's up lockdown? i'm a friend of aaron and Q_F from sherdog, where the imbeciles seem to be taking over (for quite some time now actually). now, i'm not implying that i am not an imbecile, but, i'm not as annoying as your standard imbecile.

a little info about myself: i come from a family deeply rooted in boxing (about 4 generations), but, as soon as my dad and i watched keith hackney break his hand on emmanuel yarborough's head, i was hooked on MMA. i'm a huge fight dork. i own all of the pride events, all of the ufc events (except for a few between ufc 20-40) and a huge boxing archive. with all that and a bunch of training equipment, my basement is fight heaven.

just a few of my favorite fighters:

boxing: sam langford, henry armstrong, harry greb, willie pep, sandy saddler, jack dempsey, joe louis, carmen basilio, marvin hagler, joe frazier, george forman, felix trinidad, mike tyson, manny pacquiao, ricky hatton (there are so many more)...

MMA: don frye, igor vovchanchyn, kazushi sakuraba, vitor belfort, bas rutten (obviously), wanderlei silva, quinton jackson, shogun rua, big nog, fedor emelianenko, sergei kharitonov, ishida (again, there are so many more)...

misc.: ramon dekkers, ernesto hoost, jerome le banner, mike bernardo, peter aerts, mike zambidis..

anyway, that's about it for now. this seems like a great place. i look forward to seeing you guys in the forums.

yeah, duran and chavez were beasts (bodypunching, FTW). i'm also a big fan of carlos zarate, alfonzo zamora, wilfredo gomez, edwin rosario, ricardo lopez...

...i need to stop, really. i'll be here all day, and i have to step out of the office for a while and go do some actual work for a change.

yeah, the basement is pretty kickass. reclinable & sectional sofa to enjoy all the fights on the finished side of the basement (complete with a wet bar!), and on the other side where i took up the carpet, is the muay-thai bag, GnP bag, speed bag, weights & misc.

my wife and i will have actually owned the house a year next month. i love it.

it find it hard to try to NOT like the combat sports to be honest with you. i grew up in a pretty competitive family (3 brothers) & a neighborhood full of athletes, so i was getting my ass kicked all the time. it's the best way to learn. i wouldn't have traded it in for anything...

thanks man, but i still have a shitload to learn about the fight game. whenever i learn just one new aspect of things, i realize just how much bigger the entire picture really is.

yeah, pride is gone but not forgotten. their rules and fighters were second to none, IMO. my pride dvd collection is something that i'll never trade for anything. i'm going to re-watch them all from the beginning in late summer. i'm looking forward to that.

i love ishida. i was heartbroken when gomi took him out so quickly at shockwave 2006. i was really looking forward to a war, and we didn't get it. don't get me wrong, i like gomi too, just not as much as ishida.

well, it looks like carlos newton is one of your favorites (the first time i saw him, he was having quite the battle with dan henderson @ UFC 17). too bad about newton vs. anderson in PRIDE though. brutal stuff.

willie pep is the man. so good at defense, he supposedly won a round without even throwing a punch (against jackie graves i think?).
