Just been looking at the HW roster and I'm thinking within the next 2-4 years the UFC's HW roster is going to be where it was afew years ago. ''SUCKING''. Here is the top guys now.
Cain-28
Carwin-36
Lesnar-33
Nogueira-34
Mir-31
Nelson-34
Kongo-36
Dos Santos-27
Schaub-28
Cro Cop-36 (over the hill)

Order means nothing
I don't see Carwin, Lesnar, Kongo, or Nog fighting when there 40 like Randy did. So is the divsion headed for the shit pile again? I say ''Yes''

hard to say.. A LOT can happen in a few years in MMA.. 10 new HW superstars could come out of no where

Most those guys werent even around 4 years ago lol

HW division has always been a revolving door. Top guys have been beating one another. The guys on that list will be around for a little while longer.

I think something people always forget is that Randy started MMA when he was like 36 or so, not in his 20s. So people need to stop arguing in the way that "oh these guys have plenty of time left in their careers to fight, just look at Randy!"

And wtf, Cain's 28? I thought he was way younger

There are going to be a ton of super talented big men coming in to MMA in the next two years without doubt. The popularity of MMA has exploded and it will ensure that a healthy supply of big athletic and technical fighters enter the sport. Of course this could be bad for other sports like kickboxing and boxing but it comes down to Darwin's law of natural selection.
In fact, I think the HW division is likely to improve the most over the next few years. But it will ultimately depend on how good the sport of MMA can be at capturing athletes at younger ages. Could the UFC invest money into a College MMA program? How good would that be? The wrestling coach becomes the MMA coach.
Also no need to worry about Cain. I'd say injuries aside there is no reason why he couldn't fight at his best for another 7 years. Maybe after he is 35 we could expect to see him slow down just like most other combat sports.

What, no Struve and he's in his early 20's and improving.

Within the next two years you would think that the UFC will also have taken some of the top talent from Strikeforce.

I would assume in the next 2 years we will start to see some young HW's who have been training that we just haven't heard about it. I would guess it would continue to get better over the next few years, especially since the UFC will be getting the SF roster within the next couple of years. HW division will look much better if you add them in.

Yeah a lot of well known HW fighters are on their way down but there will always be guys who seem to come out of nowhere like Carwin did.

Plus I agree with DP that now that the sport is getting bigger we will see more HW athletes choosing MMA as a career when other sports arent working out for them like football. I mean look at how well Schaub and Mitrione are doing coming over from football and neither of those guys are super athletic.

HW will be fine. When Carwins, Lesnars and Nogs are gone, Struves, Del Rosario's, Cormier's and Guram's will arrive.
