UFC president Dana White today confirmed that the organization is moving forward on its plan to add a 125-pound flyweight division to its existing seven weight classes.

White said it could come "like, really soon," possibly by year's end.

UFC owning everything I see. Anybody think this is cool? Or would it end up as having your favorite 125lbs fighters being put on the prelims?

3 new divisions in 1 year.

That'll mean more PPV's and FN's for sure.

Good news!

Sad that with the addition of all these new weight classes and added fighters we still aren't getting more quality cards and I don't anticipate that we will.

Awesome, now we'll get to watch TUF fighters get put on main cards ahead of the best 135 AND 125 fighters in the world. Yay...

Pretty much, but at least they'll be likely getting more money than they were at Tachi fighting. which was the largest Venue for FLW in NA.

I like that aspect of it, I'm just not sure they've thought this through. The Flyweight division is fun, and I enjoy the hell out of it, but I'm not sure it's got enough depth at this point to sustain a division in the UFC.

Yeah it's gonna require that the UFC does a bit more scouting out of the country, etc to smaller shows. And honestly they seem far more content in just bringing in smucks from larger weight classes around North America to be on TUF.

They should try and put together a 125 TUF. They could also (or basically would have to) go international with it like they plan on doing for TUF in the future anyways.
