What do you guys think? Will he Beat Leites and take the Crown as the King of the Octagon by being the first fighter to beat Royce Gracie's Record, which is currently 8 wins in the cage.

I think he will beat Leities and continue to win a couple more before he retires the king of 185. I think its possible that someone will catch up with his wins but i think he'll set a record for title defenses that wont be touched for some time.

This is definitely going to be Anderson's record. And Aaron, Brock already lost in the UFC, he can't have this record.
Royce's record was 8-0 before HH put that epic beatdown on him, that's what Andy is trying to break. In total, Chuck has the most wins (16). Brock's not touching that either.
GSP already has 12, and he's only 27. How scary is that? I can see GSP having over 25 wins in the UFC alone before he retires. 13 more over the course of his career should be quite doable.

Dont forget about Machida, hes gonna be busting some records.
They can make some new records for him.. most decision wins in UFC.... highest average length UFC fight .. lol
Nah, but seriously.. he has a good chance of competing with the record A Silva will hold :)

Silva is gonna win but I wouldn't call him the King of the Octagon.
None of his fights have really been that hard. The MW division is really weak right now. Put him against some of the top MW's from other orgs and I bet he'd lose.

LMAO off at Machida.
I think Anderson will beat Leites, and probaly win a few more fights after that unless he ventures too deep into the 205lb waters. 185 is the ufc's shallowest division, and a fighter like Anderson Silva came along and took it over without much resistence.
With the other divisions as deep as they are, I think it will be a long time before we see a fighter dominate like Anderson. To me the only guy with a shot is Lesnar, who has the potential to dominate heavyweight for the near future.
I have said for quite some time that Anderson will continue to be undefeated in the UFC until he meets up with Akiyama, Nate The Great again, or GSP steps up to 185.

King of the Mediocre division possibly.
Not taking away from Silvas talent, because he is a beast in the cage, but he's not in the most talented division in the ufc.
JT42 that is a nice avatar....

Okami, Akiyama, and Reljic will be gunning for him too.. should be a very interesting year in the MW division.

I think that's partially because there are now multiple clear-cut contenders in the division, and there never really was before. Whereas GSP has pretty much tooled everyone in the WW division, even before acquiring the belt lol.

He can have that title, until....he faces Nate the Great again. I think Nate is the scariest guy in the division right now. He is so intense, strong and his already well-rounded game is rapidly improving. He wants that rematch bad too, and is confident he can win. After seeing him destroy his last few opponents and with the team he has around him, I would not be surprised to see him beat Silva in a rematch. I think it could play out like Hughes/GSP.

Welcome to the forum SammyJ.. (i seen in your profile you like poker.. I play professionally :) )
I agree Nate is very intense.. hes much better then he was when he originally fought Silva.. the combo / beat down that he gave Martin was insane.

Just that it could be the same scenario...Hughes as dominant champion beats the younger challenger GSP who wasn't ready yet. GSP went back to training, got bigger, stronger and more confident, and won the title in a rematch. I could see Nate doing the same thing.

I play online.. and I go to vegas for the WSOP..
Last year was my first year playing the wsop (I'm 22).. I played a bunch of events, I did bad :( but its a small sample, and honestly I was drunk and hungover the entire time lol..
I dont really play much anymore online, I am focusing more on some other stuff.. I use to own a % of a poker website, but I just sold it recently.

I get a kick out of Nate saying, "Anderson hasn't fought this Nate." LOL. But seriously, Nate has looked great since the loss and a rematch has to be coming soon. I guess its a coin flip to see who fights for the belt after April...Maia or Nate?

Very true, it's hard to call Anderson the King with the level of opposition he's faced.
The MW division right now is nowhere near what the MW division looked like a year or two ago. Look at this: Okami still hanging around waiting for his shot, Nate's improvement, Maia's emergence, Akiyama's signing, Bisping dropping down, Wandy dropping down, Gouveia dropping down, Reljic dropping down. All of those things have happened since Anderson made his way to the top of the division, and turned it into an incredibly strong division. You can add Henderson coming over to that list as well, but Anderson already took care of that.
The division is stacked like crazy now. I really hope Anderson sticks around and tries to clear out what the division has become. If you look at what he's done compared to what he'd have to do to clean out the division now, it's not even close:
Leben..................Wandy
Franklin................Bisping
Lutter..................Maia
Marquardt.............Marquardt
Franklin................Akiyama
Henderson............Okami
Cote....................Reljic
Leites...................Gouveia
I tried to match the guys up that Anderson's already faced with guys who have a similar style that he could potentially face now (it's not a perfect system, obviously). Some of those match-ups make me drool.

I don't think MW is shallow at all The problem is that up till now The difference bewteen the contenders and the champion has been vast. HW is the weakest division IMO. As far as top 10 in the world fighters HW has the least. Except possibly LW which for some reason I always think of as stacked.

Yeah while the LW doesn't have alot of "great" fighters. It does have a bunch of really good fighters. The overall depth is crazy though. Really makes for alot of great fights, because so many of the guys are at a similar level (which is why it's one of my fav weight classes).

When I said the division was shallow I was basically talking about what Anderson has fought up until now. The MW division has come a long way since Anderson burst onto the scene against Leben. But I think it's safe to say Silva hasn't competed against top level competition in awhile.
