UFC legend Mark Coleman (15-9 MMA, 6-4 UFC) was once again linked to a potential fight with Stephan Bonnar (11-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC), this time by "The American Psycho" himself.

The two have been recently discussed in a potential bout for the historic UFC 100 on July 11 in Las Vegas.

But while the former "TUF" finalist said on Thursday's edition of "MMA Live" that he was waiting on Coleman to make the fight official, Coleman told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) he hasn't yet been officially offered the bout.

"I've heard about the possibilities, but I haven't been offered the fight," Coleman said.

While Bonnar did not specify whether he had already signed a bout agreement for the matchup, the 31-year-old suggested he was simply waiting on his opponent.

"A couple of weeks ago, talking with (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva and my agent, they mentioned the fight and I said, 'Hey, I'm game. I like the fight,'" Bonnar said. "Really, I guess Coleman just has to get his contract in order, sign the papers, and then it will be set."

When informed of Bonnar's comments, Coleman said he hoped the fight would materialize.

"If that's the case, that sounds great and awesome to me," Coleman said. "I'll fight him today, but officially I haven't heard anything from Joe Silva.

"So, I accept. I hope it's true.

"UFC 100, that would be great - Stephan Bonnar, the whole deal. But I haven't been contacted by Joe yet and I haven't signed any papers. I'm ready to sign them. I just haven't been contacted. I'm hoping the rumors come true."

Bonnar said he felt the matchup would be a good one.

"It's a good fight, too, fighting a legend like [Coleman]," Bonnar said. "To be honest with you, I first saw him come on the scene years ago, and I said, 'This guy's a monster.'

"I remember Shone Carter asked me, 'Is there anybody you're afraid of?' This was in 2001 when I first started training, and I said, 'Yeah, I'm scared of Mark Coleman.' This will give me a chance to face my fears."

Should the bout be signed, both fighters will be looking to bounce back from losses. Bonnar dropped a unanimous decision to the fast-rising Jon Jones at UFC 94 in January, while Coleman suffered a third-round TKO loss at the hands of Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 93 in the same month.

Will NEVER happen; Dana himself said so to Bonnar after the Jones loss. He said "After the fight you had with Forrest you will ALWAYS be part of the UFC family so keep your chin up"

Its kinda funny to hear Bonnar's comments here because he plays up the respect but to me it seems like he is trying to create a storyline because he sees an opportunity. IMO Coleman would be a very easy win for him and he knows that so he is lobbying for the fight.

I dont have a problem with that though because its a smart move and its a fight I wouldnt mind seeing

I know and that is one of the reasons why I hate Bonnar is because he still lives off that fight with Forrest imo.

I wouldn't mind seeing this fight, I see Bonnar taking it but its the right competition to be putting Coleman up against.

And legend i agree he is still milking the 2 Forrest fights. I hoped for good things for him and saw potential but he just can't seem to pull all of his skills together.

I hope Bonnar wins this fight. I would hate to see Mark Coleman think he's back in the game lol.

Bonnar may always be a part of the UFC family but I don't think he will always be on the main card. I think he is a good fighter and a good guy to have around to fight new guys or a good yard stick to see if they should move up in comp. I hope this fight happens as I think it was be entertaining and Bonnar could win it.

I don't understand the mach making on this fight at all.

Dana say's he likes having Bonnar around and that there will always be a place for him in the UFC.

Dana sign's Coleman to a contract and will look like trash in the eyes of the fans in the event he loses. Wouldn't Dana want Coleman to look respectable to the fan's?

Solution; let Coleman fight a complete can he has a legit chance of dominating. And I don't think Bonnar is that solution.

Translation:

"If that's the case, sweet I can get paid. I'd fight him for five dollars just to get big mac value meal, but officially I haven't heard anything from Joe Silva."

I honestly think Dana brought Coleman in to get dominated by Lesnar, he wanted to use Coleman's name to make Lesnar legit in the HW devision. This didn't happen so they played up the rematch, at this point Dana is most likely proly trying to get Coleman to retire..... just my opinion.

They should make Coleman a Coach on the next TUF. I don't want to see Coleman fight anymore, but I want to see him cornering alot more. Bring back Baroni, Wes Sims, Brandon Lee Hinckle. Put a mic on him and sit him down next to Goldie and Rogan.

I don't know why, but I find Mark Coleman to be very entertaining when he's not fighting.

I use to like Bonnar but he hasn't really impressed me as of late and if he loses to Coleman I wouldn't mind not seeing him fight anymore. He seems like he will always be a B level fighter to me...

I waited for so long for him to come back and impress me (after the fight with Forrest and seeing what he accomplished, I figured he would go far) but he's really been lackluster in his return. To be honest though, I don't care to see either him or Coleman fight anymore. I know you aren't allowed to do roids in the UFC, but in the past 8 years, he's really gone down hill.

I agree but because of the importance of his fight with Forrest they will keep him around, and if he loses to Coleman i see them padding him a lot and handing him cans.
