Not sure how good for MMA this show will be but I might check out just to see what bullys actually step up and get in the ring/cage. I guess Big John has to make somehow.

Veteran fighter Jason "Mayhem" Miller will kick off his new reality show, "Bully Beatdown," tonight on MTV.

In the show, which airs at 9:30 p.m. EST/PST, Miller confronts real-world bullies and challenges them to fights with actual MMA fighters, such as Jake Shields and Thomas Denny.

The show is executive produced by reality kingpin Mark Burnett and hosted by Miller.

In each episode, victims reach out to Miller for help. After learning the back story of the bullying, Miller ambushes the bully and challenges him on the spot to an upcoming bout. Each bully is then assigned a real-world MMA fighter as an opponent.

Each "fight" features two three-minutes rounds. The first round involves grappling, and each bully begins with $5,000. However, he loses $1,000 each time he taps out. If he can submit the pro fighter, though, the bully earns an additional $5,000.

In the second round, which is reserved for kickboxing, the fighter earns $5,000 is he survives the round before a knockout, TKO or referee's stoppage. If he knocks out the pro, the fighter gets an additional $5,000.

After the fight, any money lost by the bullies goes to his victim.

The series is slated for an initial run of eight episodes.

In addition to other fighters such as Conor Huen, Jon Murphy, Michael Westbrook and Tony Bonello, "Bully Beatdown" features veteran referee "Big" John McCarthy officiating the matches, and UFC veteran Jeremy Horn and ICON Sport vet Jeremy Williams as corner men.

Replays of the debut "Bully Beatdown" episode are scheduled for tonight at 11 p.m. EST/PST, Monday at 2 p.m. EST/PST and Tuesday at 3 a.m. and noon EST/PST.

After announcing his retirement in 2008, Miller (21-6) returns to competition next month to fight Kala Hose in the debut KINGDOM MMA event in Hawaii. Miller hasn't competed since a June unanimous-decision loss to Ronaldo Souza at DREAM.4. He's 4-1 in his past five fights.

Miller never gave me the impression he would be good to listen too when I saw him in video's. Rampage is funny. Bisping is funny. Randy seems smart. etc Miller just seems like he wants to be funny.

Do you think they will win though, i have a feeling they are set up for failure here. If they do win its gonna make MMA look bad IMO

I wonder how many of the "bullies" on the show are going to end up suing the MMA fighters/MTV for this. Either way, since it's on MTV, it'll probably be as real as Celebrity Deathmatch.

I miss celebrity deathmatch.
Anyway, i generally make an effort not to watch anything on MTV, cause it all sucks......except in sweet 16 when the chicks start crying for some dumb reason, that shit's classic.

But yeah, i don't think this is gonna work well.

That is true, but then again in MMA people do get lucky too? I just seen the first episode... and the bully got 2g's... meh he went through pain but he got a reward for bullying other people. The 2nd round, Kickboxing, a bully WILL get lucky and K.O. a MMA fighter. ;)

After this show the average wanna be tough guy is going to think he can beat up MMA fighters. I just don't see this being great for the sport and i agree sucks that people get money for being bullies, but on the other hand this is MTV so i wouldn't be shocked if no real bullying took place and its all a setup.

i'm not going to lie, i'll probably check it out. this probably won't paint mma in the best light, but at least guys like mayhem and horn are going to be getting some spotlight + making some dolla bills

So I watched the show.
Its ok I guess.
These are my observations:

-Miller does a decent job as a host. I thought he would be really annoying but he wasnt.

-These bullies are probably gonna get their revenge on these guys after the camera is gone.

-The crowd watching the fights are not knowledgeable and I think I actually heard booing.

-The fights are 2 X 3 min rounds. The first round is only submissions. The bully begins the round with $5000, and every time the bully gets submitted, he loses $1000. I dont think 3 mins is enough to submit a guy 5 times if he's a moderate athlete. I would just run in circles because I know he cant punch or kick me. The first bully got submitted 3 times so he kept 2 grand.

-It does very little to expose the MMA fighter. They maybe spent 20-40 seconds talking about the MMA fighter and his record.

-There isnt much buildup suspense to the fight which is good because you see most of the beating that way.

-I cant really say if it will be good or bad for MMA. It really centers around the ''beating of a bully'', more that it does the ''beating of a bully by an MMA fighter''.

I'll watch again next week.

Ya I watched it last night. I thought a lot of the lines very corny. Overall it felt very set up, and had bad acting. The fight was the only cool part, but that was only like 6 minutes of the episode lol.

The rules were pretty dumb plus Tony Bonello is garbage lol.

Ninja Rua murdered him which was great.

LoL, did anyone watch the second episode? They made the bully homeless.

I don't think this will shed a good or bad light on MMA.

It's just an excuse to watch an A-Hole get beat down by a trained martial artist.

If a bully wins, then the fighter was garbage. Seriously.

No average baggy-pants "tough guy" is going to beat a trained fighter that has any skill.

BUT... The first episode certainly wreaked of fakeness.

Watched it last night, it was ok i guess. The bully didn't even throw one punch and got TKOed. Guess its fun to watch wanna be tough guys get beat up.

I love it, even if a lot of it is scripted.

It's nothing great, but i will watch it on the off chance they actually have some young MMA prospects on there once.

This last bully was a 6 foot 7 puss though and i'm sure 95% of this show is scripted, all besides the fight probably.

Jake Shields is going to be on one by the way.

I really wish Jason fought, he is a lot of fun to watch, plus he is better than all of the other fighters on the show, minus shields if he is going to be on there.

Jake Shields is going to be on one by the way.

That's rad.

Too bad they have a "stand-up only" round. The bully that faces Shields is going to keep that 5 grand.
