this evening i got a chance to train with a lumpinee champ master hehm of the rawai camp , hehm is the 1999 59kg champ and the 2005 75kg southern thailand champ , his record is astonishing 280 wins 15 losess and 5 draws. there were about 15 ofus training and we got to train with him in a nice relaxed session, we did some clinch work(hehm's forte as a fighter) also we got a chance to have a one on one pad work session and spar with him in a brilliant 3 hour session , ive honestly got to say its got to be my best training expierence so far the things we picked up of this guy is awesome , and he is such a cool guy too. anyways i thought i would share im knackerd now i lie down i need :)

That's awesome.

I actually took a trip to Thailand and Laos about 5 years ago and went to Lumpinee Stadium to watch some of the fights there. It was a great experience.

Was he just there today? Will you get to train with him again? What was the sparring with him like?

he is in wales for another two months, so he is going to come to our home gym for a session , sparring with him was brilliant he would toy with you for a while let you hit him, then as soon as i silipped up , he would use his amazing footwork to bamboozale me , clinching with him was like trying to move a truck he was unbeilevbly strong and explosive.

Man, I REALLY want to go to East Asia.

Why did you take the trip?

I don't know if you know I've said it a couple times but I was sent to a boarding school in Massachusetts and every year the school took an international field trip to a different country.

Only about 20 students could go and the trip was in place of our spring break and I jumped at the chance. We were there for about 2 weeks. The money my grandmother left for me before she died paid for the entire trip and it was well worth it it came out to about $2000 and it covered hotel stays, plane tickets and spending money.

I don't remember the names of all the hotels we stayed in but I remember the Conrad hotel in Bankok and another one in Chaing Mai. We stayed in at least 3 different hotels one of around Thailand and Laos. We also were guests in this third world village and we spent one night there and it was one of the most miserable nights of my life. It was very primitive and now I feel grateful for flushing toilets and air conditioning because that place was like that villiage in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (serious)

Our flight left Jersey Airport to Dubai and took a connecting flight to Kuala Lumpur, spent the night there and then took a flight the next morning to Chaing Mai.

It was a pretty heavily chaperoned and we spent a lot of time visiting temples. I wish we had little more freedom to go out and do shit.

But it was a great trip nonetheless.

I had the chance to take another one of the trips during my second year to south africa but my parents couldn't afford it.

Thailand is awesome and mega cheap. Everyone should go. And the Lumpinee is kind of weird, cos it's meant to be a 'stadium' but it's basically sticks and corrigated iron. Amazing experience though and the fights were awesome.
