My first title defense for the ICF 145 pound belt is December 12th in KY. It will be a five round fight since it is in KY so it will be the first time I have had a chance to go past three rounds which I like. My opponent is primarily a wrestler, he is 5-0. Should be a good fight.

I feel like I have put together an excellent gameplan for Brett and have been working extensively with all american wrestler Joe Maiani in prep for the fight. I will post the video following the fight.

Your fights are always exciting man.
Question though, on the website it says it is 3 rounds and was for the title? Is that a typo?

No man, in Ohio all amateur fights are 3 rounds, even title fights. I have had two title fights in Ohio and this one is in Kentucky so this will be my first five rounder.

Made weight, tough cut though had to run off the last few pounds in the freezing cold outside which sucked but its done now, back up to 155 already and its only been three and a half hours lol but i will be peeing off a lot of that from the insane amount of liquids i have drank.

Lost unanimous decision. Most boring fight I have ever been in. Got taken down every round, he stayed active enough to not get it stood up but a few times, never passed, but he clearly won the fight. He was a far superior wrestler to me and much stronger, I couldn't do anything with him. I really dont care about the loss, i didnt get finished or hurt at all, but it just kills me to be in a fight that was a snooze fest. Not sure where to go from here, thinking about making the cut to 135, I will post the vid at some point but its really nothing to see, very boring. I need to get better on my back thats definately something I can take from the fight. I lost, it is what it is.

Damn that sucks so much man.
You'll get better though.
I would definately work hard on your bottom game and sweeps.
Keep working at it man! Future WEC champion

You should have just asked him if he thought you were hot. then when he didn't answer you could have told him he was cute, but not hot. You would have surely won then. haha
I wonder how many people will get the reference?

about 160. when im in pretty good shape i walk at about 155. I figure i will diet down to about 145 and then cut the last ten over the last week or so. I am going to debut at 135 february 20th. I will still probably fight at 145 if i get any decent opportunities there but once I go pro i will probably stay at 135.

Bad luck at getting blanketed Kam. I thought you said this cut was tough so be careful trying to drop another 10lbs.

I don't get it.
Sorry to hear about the 'L' man...just take it and let it make you better. Master the sweeps so wrestlers like that cannot control the fight. Improve the sprawl so they can't feel like they can take you down. But most of all get a Nate Diazlike triangle sub game.

Boring wrestlers aren't just something we cringe about on TV, they're much worse than that. They hit close to home, they hurt the ones we love
Make them stop :(

I have no problem with wrestling, I tend to not use it much in my fights but i wrestled some in high school. I just have a problem with someone having no intention of finishing the fight. Or advancing position. Whatever though, im at fault too for getting taken down every round but i tried to move around on the bottom and he just held me down the whole time. Took no chances. Im not down about it at all, just upset I was in a boring fight. I mean my bjj pretty much sucks, if you cant even pass my guard one time in five rounds you are the definition of boring lol. But yeah its good that it happened, get my lazy ass to get to my optimum weight class.

Rather than go down in weightclass when you are already struggling with the cut, get some work done on your jitz game.

Im always trying to improve my bjj but the cut is necessary, I have been smaller than 8 out of the 10 guys i have fought. And one of those guys i was bigger than was at a catch weight of 140. My plan has always been to go to 135 but i was going to wait until i was pro but now that everyone i fight is really good i need to be at 135
