Bobby Lashely Confirms Recent Talks With The UFC
By Fightline.com Staff | March 30, 2009
Bobby Lashely Confirms Recent Talks With The UFC“I’ve had dialogue with (the UFC) over the past few days. They know where my mind frame is. I hold the UFC in high regard and I believe the UFC is a place where you have to be at a certain level before you get there. I want to be a serious contender for a title before I go in there. When I get to the UFC, I want people to say ‘Bobby is good enough to go for the title.’ I would like to be holding a 5-0 or 6-0 record, somewhere around there before going into the UFC. If I can take what I do in practice and put that into a match — then you’ll see a whole different Bobby than what you saw the other day.”
-Former WWE superstar Bobby Lashley on his UFC ambitions. Lashely appeared as a guest on Pro MMA Radio with host Larry Pepe. The former two-time NAIA wrestling champion was victorious in his second professional MMA fight, defeating Jason Guida by unanimous decision at the “March Badness" MMA & boxing Pay-Per-View. Lashley was a guest on the Pro MMA Radio show last night and told host Larry Pepe that his ultimate goal is to be a player in the UFC.
I think he needs two impressive performances...MINIMUM , before stepping into the UFC.
I think Guida threw him off a lil, and it made him look bad....I think when he shows his potential in his next mma fight, he'll be a very differently looking Bobby Lashley
I thought this was posted somewhere already? I know I have read it and I am glad he realizes he needs experience

The Marcus Jones fight is just a rumor I guess so I wonder who he will fight next.

It's good that he knows he isn't ready for it just yet. I agree with him, he should wait until he has reached that level of contender status so he can go in against a solid gate keeper. I still am not sold entirely yet either. I mean he has got potential with his size and athleticism, but he is going to need more skills than that. I don't think he is the freak that Lesnar is.

I agree he has great potential and he needs to show it and gain some more experience. He also needs to not let guys get inside his head like he let Guida do to him.

Why do people want to rush into the UFC so fast? This is the problem with (and I use this lightly in Lashey's case) "famous" guys getting into fighting that I see, they can't stand not being in the limelight and think they deserve to be in the UFC, because they have a "name".
Lashley is someone I just see getting stomped in the UFC, I am not sold on him and really other than a good am-wrestling background.
Can he get better? Of course and, but I just don't see why so many people are putting their eggs into his basket at the moment. Shit he wasn't even that good of a pro-wrestler.

Isn't he actually saying that he know he doesn't deserve to be in the UFC yet?
He needs to take fights that are in a cage and a cage only.

I don't buy into Lashley ever being good enough to compete in the UFC but hell he's got a name and is a draw so I guess he would be a good guy to build someone else up.

Lashley has said that he doesn't think he should be in the UFC yet and wants 5 or 6 wins before he goes there. I wouldn't call that rushing into the UFC.

I think everyone wants Lashley in the UFC so they can see the most brutal Vanilla-Chocolate swirl in the world if he were ever to tangle with Brock.
Could you imagine what kind of PPVs that would get? Two large pro-wrestlers turned "cage fighters" going at it...
Every pro-wrestling fan and his mother would tune in.

Do you have stock in the UFC or something : p? That sounds like a pretty dull reason to want to see this fight, and I don't think it will happen but that's my opinion.
And it's not like Lashley was the superstar Brock was during his tenure with the WWE. Yeah, Bobby got the cheap pops from kids but to the older crowds he was a dud, terrible mic skills, your typical big WWE wrestler equiped with the 5 moves of doom, and his high pitch voice didn't help his character either.
EDIT: If Lashley feels he needs 5 or 6 more wins (which he does) then he shouldn't even have the UFC on his mind. We all talk about fighters getting ahead of themselves and how it affects them, like Chuck wanting another crack at Rashad and so forth, to me this isn't any different.
