While UFC welterweight Josh Koscheck (12-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) had looked to rebound quickly from a disappointing loss to Paulo Thiago at February's UFC 95, the former "TUF" cast member will not get that chance at "UFC 98: Evans vs. Machida."

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, Koscheck has suffered a foot injury and been forced to withdraw from the bout.

Koscheck had been scheduled to meet Team Quest's Chris Wilson (14-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) on the main card of the May 23 event.

According to the report, the UFC is currently seeking a replacement opponent for Wilson, who was last in action in a "Fight of the Night," split-decision loss to John Howard at January's UFC 94.

It is currently unknown if Wilson's bout would remain on the evening's main card. The UFC could promote a preliminary bout with "The Ultimate Fighter 8" finalist Phillipe Nover or hard-hitting middleweights James Irvin and Drew McFedries to the evening's televised portion should they choose.

Wilson, who is currently training in Brazil, wasn't immediately available for comment when contacted by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). But a recent post on his official website suggested he was excited for the matchup with Koscheck.

"Training is going great," Wilson stated. "I have my schedule down and we are going through the steps preparing for Koscheck. He presents some difficulties to me because he doesn't really like to get hit. Thus, he uses his wrestling talent to keep the fight as far as possible from wherever he can get hit. If he could, I'm sure he would have me in a headstand because it is as far as I can be from standing up.

"As always I train for everything including the pleasant surprise of him trading on the feet but of course I expect the worst and train for it. Lots of wrestling and jiu-jitsu so I'll be sharp there. I doubt I'll forget how to strike any more than he'll forget how to wrestle so this is the best training camp for me. I'll be in shape and ready for war."

Kos was the one getting this fight on the main card. Wilson is going back to the undercard.

Kind of glad as the Irvin - McFedries fight is going to be a guilty pleasure fight that I really wanted to see.

i think it may be good for kos to have some rest and go back to the drawing board and rethink his training and fight stratagies, personally i think he should go back to his bread and butter of wrestling rather than trying to be a striker.

He needs the time off. I'm kind of happy too. I'm getting sick of seeing his clown hair every 2 months

yea man, this time off will be good for him. i'm glad this fight didn't happen because i didn't want wilson to lose and be dropped by the ufc. hopefully he'll be put up against someone who he can get an impressive win against and move up the ranks.

i'm kind of stoked for this fight too, it should be a fun stand up war

I like Kos and was looking forward to this fight but this card is pretty stacked so I am not upset with them having to move another fight up. Honestly I would buy this card if Machida/Rashad was the only fight on it.

I just hope they get another opponent for Wilson b/c I hate to see fights cancelled on guys when they have been preparing for it

I kinda liked the odds Chris Wilson had so I'm kinda bummed this fight got pulled.
