So I was perusing their forums, trying to spread the FLD love and I came across a ridiculous thread. Some moron tried presenting the idea that any time a person wanted to change their username, they should have to pay $5 for the labour it involves.

Anyway, being a member of that site and having a username I'd like to change there, I put in my two cents, saying that a premium account at their site is already a turnoff to people because of how expensive it is ($20 for a year). Then one of their premium members writes this:

Are you serious? Playing for free already gives you the opportunity to win REAL money. Paying for a premium account DOUBLES the potential prize money, gets you a t-shirt, removes ads from the forums, allows you to have a signature, a bigger avatar, a custom title...What else can be done? We can't offer sexual favors.

Regardless of what you may think, it *does* cost money to run this site. I think the premium fee is very reasonable and I would definitely recommend that everyone sign up for it.*

* And no, I have nothing to gain from it.

Seriously, $20 to have no ads and the chance to win a little more money. Oh, and an MMAPlayground tshirt that I'm sure people really want. I could understand maybe if it was a lifetime membership for $20, but holy shit, $20 a year and charging for features/services most forums give away? What a joke site.

It's so true man. Their premium members don't get a VIP lounge, they don't have event streaming, a shoutbox, or the chance to get their questions answered by fighters. Their forums are terrible too, not just in the lack of activity, but the way they're set-up and how they're moderated. That thread I was talking about was evetnually locked by an admin who said:

nyway, if you have a suggestion in the future just send it to me( or a mod )and we will debate it in our personal forum. I don't care to do it on the open forums because a few people start bitching about any little thing they want , and those are generally the people who's opinions are irrelevant to me anyway. So now I won't have to waste anytime reading this stuff. It will be taken under advisement and we will discuss it and get back to you, at which time I will unlock this thread.

So basically, you're not allowed to talk about suggestions to make the site better on a specifically designated suggestions forum. Pretty fucking shitty that their members' opinions are "irrelevant" when they are pointing out flaws.

This place is great, not only is our community strong, but our staff is part of the community without power-tripping. I tip my hat to everyone involved with this site.

Biggest sign of a bad forum IMO. People don't seem to realise that the whole concept of a forum is it's the members that matter.

Hey guys I just wanted to let everyone know of a few changes around here that me and Plazz have been discussing...

- From now on you'll have to pay us $5 to change your usertitle.
- If you're not a lifetime member then you'll see one ad after every post and 3 ads on each side of the forum.
- We've raised the price of memberships. 1 year memberships now cost $30 and a lifetime membership costs $50.
- There's no benefits to those memberships though because we are doing away with the VIP Lounge. We're also getting rid of streams and only staff can ask fighters questions.
- If you've bought a membership in the past we're revoking it and you'll have to buy a new one.
- No more signatures or avatars either. We don't like how they look.
- We're also going to be getting rid of the suggestion forum and any threads we don't like we'll close.

If you don't like these changes well we don't give a shit because your opinion is irrelevant to us.
