Well there's also the argument that her looks cost her a lot of fame/success earlier in life. There's so many people in the music industry with seriously questionable talent who get by purely on looks/image, that it's nice to see someone with genuine talent make it in spite of them not fitting in.

Yeah they play up to her current image anyway and market her as a misfit and such, but it's her musical talent that got her where she is.
