So my computer knowledge is very limited. Especially when it comes to repairing any kind of software issues.
Anyways i turned on my laptop earlier today and after logging in and getting everything loaded up and ready to run (computer is slow so it's a bit of a process). The screen randomly goes black and then the computer shuts down on it's own and restarts. I didn't think much of it the first time, and just started it up again normally. However once again after starting up it randomly shutsdown and restarts at right about the same point (almost like an invisible timer is on). After that i decided to try and deal with the issue to the best of my ability. That being going into safe mode and using system restore. The restore goes through, i log in again and get to just about the same point and then it's off again. So now i'm in safe mode. And i'm wondering if anyone has any possible solutions to this problem? Because i've exhausted about all my computer skills. lol Computer basics HP laptop dual core a little less than 3 years old. Runs on vista And if any mac fan boy says the problem is i don't have a mac i will kill them.

go to safe mode
go start -> run -> msconfig -> start up - > disable all -> OK -> restart and see if it helps... if its not happening in safe mode.. it sounds like something that loads at start up is causing an error that results in it restarting |

Call HP, most laptops have a hidden partition and a code you can enter that will automatically reload all the computers software (that it shipped with, your shit will be lost unless you can pull it out first).

Thanks Cplmac, but it seems to be working alright right now. I'll deff talk to my brothers roomate about it soon though. Since he's knows a ton about computers.
Luckily i've got a desktop HD with a TB of memory so i'll have plenty of room to save stuff i need.

Could some faulty overheating response. It thinks it's overheating so automatically shutdown. Make sure the fan is working.

My laptop died from this. I knew it was time to call it quits when it started to smoke.
