edit: upon examining the stamina bar, it appears Chuck can take a lot of damage it takes o lot of punishment to get him in a position where you can successfully sub him. In my experinces Shogun has poor cardio or maybe its just because I windmill like mad. By the time I get Chuck into a position to sub him my gas bar is less than so he can automatically defend my subs. To nail a sub you must have a larger gas bar than Chuck, which is tricky given the players we have.

I actually have more problems passing guard than anything else. It seems like the thumbstick controls aren't really that responsive for getting to half-guard and mount.

I find it really easy to pass to half guard then side control. I tend to usually pass to the left right now just out of habit. Moving the stick from 6 o'clock to 9/10 o'clock puts you in half guard, then just do it again for side control.

Mounting's a bit trickier but you get the hang of it. It's a major transition so it's a bigger motion with the stick. Pull it down to about 7-8 o'clock and you should see his knee pop up as he puts weight on his foot, then go ati-clockwise to about 3-4 o'clock and you get the mount.

Sometimes I think you have to go in different directions or to different positions I think but try pulling the stick down to different positions and then when you find one where he steps into Chucks body move it in either direction and you should get the mount.

Probably easier ways of doing things but that's what I found the best way to pick it up.

When I get to full mount Chuck always gets double underhooks in how do you get him to unhook so I can lay down some GNP

Posturing up from mount is a major transition, so a 180 pretty much.

Smashing buttons is a "brute force" escape and you have a better chance of escaping but don't get a better position unless your a striker.

The thumbstick is a technical escape and you finish in say side control.

I am not 100% sure how it works but my bet would be it is determined on your skills so brute force escapes might not be as effective as others.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to practice some more. I don't have too many problems passing to side control, it just seems like sometimes there's a lack of response when I move the thumbstick.

Whenever I try a major thumbroll transition from mount, my character goes back to side control...

You have to make the movement easily to identify. I did the same thing and kept going back to side control until I really looked over my hand movements.

Yeah, ive never been stopped in mount

You gotta keep turning, until they stop defending. If they aren't postured, they get put back into half guard, but if they posture up, you gotta keep doing quater turns to give your back up, and from there proceed to turning into their guard.

Constant turning, until you hit it, try not let them get any flurries whatsoever.

So what are your favourite subs in the game.
Personally, i like the flying armbar from Shogun, and the triangle from mount (although i rarely do it, i just GnP). My fav position is the rubber guard, cause you can triangle, mount or take their back

Thanks, that's what the problem was lol. I just played for two hours and focused specifically on mastering transitions, and I understand them a lot better now.

Whoa, what? There's a flying armbar? How do you pull that off?

My favourite is probably the counter triangle. I wish it was more obvious as to when a fighter is easier to submit.. I feel so dirty playing with the stamina bar on. *shudders*
