Quote:
A light-heavyweight showdown between Brazilian jiu-jitsu whiz Alexandre "Xande" Ribeiro (1-0) and 12-and-a-half year veteran Keiichiro Yamamiya (34-23-9) has been added to May's "Sengoku Eighth Battle."

Scheduled for May 2 at the National Yoyogi Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, the event will also feature the second round of the organization's featherweight grand prix.

Ribeiro vs. Yamamiya joins Leo Santos vs. Kazunori Yokota as the only officially announced bouts on the card.

The 28-year-old Ribeiro is an amazingly well-decorated Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion who is widely considered to be among the world's top grapplers. The Brazilian made his professional MMA debut with a gutsy, third-round TKO over Takashi Sugiura in September 2008 at "Sengoku Fifth Battle."

Yamamiya bean fighting professionally in 1996. A long-time Pancrase veteran, Yamamiya fought once for the UFC in 1999 and has notable career wins over Yuki Kondo, Chael Sonnen, Nate Marquardt, Denis Kang, Iuhisa Minowa, Chris Lytle, Jason Delucia and Minoru Suzuki, among others. Yamamiya has also come up short in battles with Gustavo Machado, Keith Jardine, Akihiro Gono, Paulo Filho, Jeremy Horn, Bas Rutten and Guy Mezger.

"Sengoku Eighth Battle" is expected to air live in North America on HDNet.

With the addition to the card, the event now includes:

* Leonardo Santos vs. Kazunori Yokota
* Alexandre "Xande" Ribeiro vs. Keiichiro Yamamiya
* Featherweight grand prix second-round participants: Nick Denis, Hatsu Hioki, Chan Sung Jung, Masanori Kanehara, Nam Phan, Michihiro Omigawa, Marlon Sandro and Ronnie Mann

Good to see ribeiro in his second fight dude has amazing BJJ will be good to see how it is going to translate to MMA.

This is a good test for Xande. Not a can at all.

But Xande will probably win this one hopefully he will use his ground game this time.

WVR is the best organization in MMA right now as far as match-making goes. Hands down.

They actually push their prospects and they set up matches in their GP that were not only competitive, but bound to be exciting.

Their last show was really stellar. And I am soooo happy they are broadcast on HDNet now because the matches are all the better in HD rather than pathetic streams

Also it will be cool to see Xande and hopefully we will be treated to some sick jitz
