Default Preliminary ratings

Quote:
Overnight numbers for last night's Strikeforce on CBS show are a 2.3 rating and 3.8 million viewers. This is lower than the first Kimbo Slice main evented Elite XC show (a 3.0 rating and 4.9 million viewers) but better than the July 2008 show, which was considered a disaster. The actual ratings will be out on Tuesday, and these numbers are only for 9PM-11PM. The Fedor vs. Rogers fight aired after 11PM, with the show ending at 11:25PM.

The show won the timeslot in Males 18-34 and 18-49, but lost to the college football game in overall ratings. CBS was the lowest rated network of the eventing and their ratings were down 38% from what they normally do on Saturday nights.

Not bad, not great. Has to be a little worrisome for CBS though

Really depends on what this costs CBS to do vs. a by the numbers TV show, their ratings were way up, the advertising sold out and sold out fast, ten thousand people in the crowd in a suburb of Chicago. I don't think this is as worrisome as people think it may be.

CBS went up 284% in the male 18-49 demographic, which is really big for them, and there's not much shame in losing to something like college football.

Any shock or awe over this being lower than Kimbo is pretty ridiculous I think, Kimbo was an internet phenomenon, not an MMA fighter, so of course it did better numbers, it pulled from more places.

9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 3.53 million (#4), A18-49: 1.6/ 5 (#2)
10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 4.12 million (#3), A18-49: 1.9/ 6 (#1)
10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 4.01 million (#3), A18-49: 1.8/ 6 (#1)

That's pretty good, considering the Fedor/Rogers fight wasn't factored in and that was the fight this entire event was marketed around. Should be interesting.

They also didn't push this card in the way they should have. Very few ads, very little anything in my opinion and it still did pretty well. I'm optimistic for the future, but I'm not crowning anyone.

Have you seen what they usually show though? CSI, NCIS and the Mentalist, three of the high rated shows on TV, but shows that they don't have a lock on. Ratings were down overall, but up in the key demographic that they said they wanted to capture, so I think it's a wash.

Exactly. MMA is not going to draw more interest than shows that have ridiculous mainstream followings.. MMA is still a long way off appealing to the casual couch goon that thinks gogoplatas are a kind of chip dip.
