Default Brad's Friday Fight Bodega: Christmas Edition

Chinese and Korean Bodega owners take no Christmas holiday... so neither does FLD's resident Bodega.

Quote:
Welcome everybody, I hope you're enjoying your holidays, and at the Bodega we hope we can aid you in that process. Being that it's Christmas I was going through my head thinking about what I could possibly relate to this festive season, and inevitably I came to the conclusion that the PRIDE Cold Fury events were the only events which really celebrated Christmas. Ever since, events have been more geared to the more party friendly holiday of New Year's than the family friendly one of Christmas. However, PRIDE did grace us with a couple of Christmas cards (get it? Christmas cards?) which produced some fantastic matches.

My personal favorite, after going back through old DVD's is by far Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs Dan Henderson 2, although the hilarious image of Igor Vovchanchyn submitting Valentijn Overeem cannot go unmentioned. So without further ado, since if I don't go to bed soon Santa may skip my house altogether, I present you one of the many classic HW encounters that PRIDE provided us.

Definitely one of the more entertaining HW matches MMA fans have been privy to. It should be noted that Henderson took this fight on only 10 days notice, was outweighed by an even 40 pounds, and still managed to put on arguably the greatest performance of his career (albeit in a losing effort). Nogueira who was at the time considered the best HW on the planet, threw everything at Dan, but it took him the better part of 20 minutes to finally finish him. It could even be argued that Henderson laid some of the groundwork for Fedor's masterful first fight against Nogueira, which came only 3 months after this bout.

At any rate, this is certainly a fight worth revisiting, and I hope you enjoyed it, and continue to enjoy your holidays as well. Until next time.
Merry Christmas, bitches.

Nice man.

Awesome fight and IMO, Hendo's best performance. And yes I am on here on Christmas day for some reason, everyone else is getting ready for dinner so I thought I'd drop in and got the pleasure of watching Hendo/Big Nog 2 for my efforts.

Nice work Brad.

Great choice and really showed why Hendo is the man. Because of this I always wished Hendo would've been able to try his hand in the OWGP but alas we will never get that opportunity again. We can always look back on this fantastic fight though!

There's still always the possibility of Fedor/Hendo...

I love Hendo, and not even I can pick him to win that fight. I don't want to see and have no interest in it.

Also, this fight is awesome.
