At the end of this month, former PRIDE LW champion, Takanori "The Fireball Kid" Gomi will be making his debut at UFN 21 against Kenny Florian. I felt that the timing was perfect to introduce him to new MMA fans, or re-excite older fans about his arrival with a video. Let me know what you think on the FightLockdown forums!

Rubens Charles Maciel, better known as Rubens "Cobrinha" Charles, was born in Londrina, Brazil. During his younger years he was a keen student in the art of Capoeira, which is where he gained his now famous nickname "Cobrinha" (roughly translating to “it charges”) for his amazing agility and flexibility. At the age of twenty-one, a friend of his recommended a new class which was being put on at a local Tae Kwon Do school. Rubens has said that he was “very nervous” and “did not know what to expect”, but after one class he realized that he had found his sport, Jiu-Jitsu, which he has dedicated his life to ever since.

A fighter’s mind -- the one thing that cannot be fully trained by hours on the mat or with hundreds of gym sessions that prepare the body for the intensity of battle. A fighter’s mind is a unique thing, as casual outside observers may wonder why these men and women put themselves through all of the struggle, the pain, and the sacrifice for just a few minutes which could bring the glory of victory or the utter devastation of defeat. I think a fighter’s mind and attitude are something that you either have or you don’t. So many people show great talent in training, but when it comes down to the crunch of the fight, only a select group of individuals have the inner strength to overcome the mental rigors of fighting.
